My Birth Story, “My Why”

My name is Chrystal, I’m a Birth and Postpartum Doula, 🤰Prenatal Nutritionist, Breastfeeding Counselor 🤱and Certified Women’s Enterpueror. I am a wife and a mama to a beautiful little girl and angel baby. I’m all of these things because of the journey I went through having my miracle baby. 💫

Here is my birth story.  My daughter Azaria was born at 39 weeks. She came a week early and right before the world shut down due to covid in 2020. Thank goodness she came early because I was still able to have my two sisters with me, if not I would have been in trouble with just me and my husband who isn’t from this country and was hiding in a corner when it was time to push. 🤦🏽‍♀️My sisters were our doulas. One took care of me and the other took care of him, keeping him from passing out.🤷🏽‍♂️ One of my sisters was a nurse and she kept me medically informed when they were talking medical lingo that I didn’t understand. They spoke for me when I couldn’t and advocated for me when necessary, holding space for me and comforting me.💪 They helped make my birth experience the best it could be and I brought my miracle baby into this world safely. 👼🏼

Now my daughter was born with some medical challenges and with everyone on lockdown we didn’t get the typical help that our family provides when someone has a baby.😔 We struggled and I mean struggled with breastfeeding issues, left torticollis, extreme GERD (I don’t wish GERD on my worst enemy!).🙏🏼 We were finally convinced to allow my aunt to come help us a couple days a week. She spent days and nights teaching us everything we needed to know, so we were able to sleep and take showers (thank you Jesus). 🙌🏼This was the game changer for us and we will forever be thankful for her help.❤️ I could go into so much more about our struggles with our postpartum journey that lasted the first year and a half because let's be serious the whole first year is hard! But with the grace of God our daughter has overcome all her challenges and is now thriving and living her best 4 year old life. 🌈💫

So, with all that being said this is my “why” I do what I do. If it wasn’t for my Birth Doula sisters I would have been lost during my delivery and if it wasn’t for my aunt who played the role as a Postpartum Doula my 4th trimester would have been even harder than it already was. So I have decided to use all of my training and my personal story and knowledge to help families have the best birth experience possible and help them through the trenches of postpartum. I am dedicated to help make the hard work a little easier for families during the most difficult yet most rewarding time of their lives by supporting your family through birth, postpartum and transition to parenthood. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
